9T0MD --- > The official website for the 9T0MD DXpedition to the Democratic
Republic of the Congo (30 September - 11 October) is now up and running:
https://www.mdxc.support/9t0md/. It is intended to be a dynamic hub for the
DX community rather than a simple info page. The site offers an immersive
look at their DXpedition, providing real-time updates and storytelling that
spans the entire timeline - from initial preparations to the final wrap-up.
GMFF ---> "GM Flora and Fauna" (GMFF) is an amateur radio award programme
for activators and chasers who enjoy portable operating from natural and
outdoor locations. The programme includes awards such as the Islands of
Scotland Award (IOSA), Scotland's Wildlife Award (SWA), Islands of the Crown
Dependencies Award (ICDA), Islands of Wales Award (IOWA), Islands of North-
ern Ireland Award (IONIA), Islands of the Republic of Ireland Award (IRIA),
National Nature Reserves Award (NNRA), Special Areas of Conservation Award

NCDXF DXCELLENCE AWARD ---> Created in April 2021, the Northern California
DX Foundation's "DXcellence Award" is awarded to the "outstanding DXpedition
of the last twelve months, which received funding from NCDXF. The award is
intended to recognize excellence in a DXpedition, exemplified by practices,
ethics, management, new technology, transparency, youth involvement, impact
upon the DXing community, and lastly exhibited fun! The winner of the award
is determined by the NCDXF Board of Directors at their annual meeting. The
board considers several factors, including performance, complexity of the
DXpedition, impact on Club Log most wanted ranking".
This year's recipients of the DXcellence Award are:
* the KP5/NP3VI DXpedition to Desecheo, "for its 100% solar powered, 100%
remote operation, proving that a new technology can provide a huge impact
to DXing with almost no environmental impact;
* the PJ6Y Youth DXpedition to Saba Island, "for the outstanding performance
of a well-organized DXpedition that emphasized youth participation and
remote radio technology".
The mission of NCDXF is to provide necessary financial support for well-
organized DXpeditions to desirable DXCC entities and to support advances in
DXpeditioning skills, technology, and infrastructure: https://www.ncdxf.org.
[TNX AA7A]
NCDXF NEWS ---> A special Board meeting of the Northern California DX Foun-
dation took place on 20 April.
"At the meeting, the Board accepted the resignation of Board Director
George Wallner, AA7JV. The Board thanks George for his unmatched support to
the Board and for spearheading the development of the Radio-In-a-Box (RIB)
technology that continues to gain momentum in the DX community.
At this meeting, the Board elected Gregg Marco, W6IZT, to replace George
on the NCDXF Board. Gregg is passionate about the participation of young
hams in DXpeditions. He has led several DXpedition efforts recently that in-
cluded many young hams. He has also developed a Next Generation RIB system
that has been instrumental in including many young hams in DXpeditions via
remote access.
The Board also voted to expand the number of Directors to add two new mem-
bers. In concert with other recent changes to the Board's emphasis, these
two new Directors need to be younger ham radio operators with proven DXpedi-
tion experience. Accordingly, the Board proudly announces the following two
additions to the NCDXF Board of Directors: Violetta Latham, KN2P and Max
Freedman, N4ML.
Adding these two outstanding young hams to the Board is another initiative
by the Foundation to encourage the participation of young hams in DXing and
DXpeditioning. We look forward to their insights on how to best support that
initiative". [TNX AA7A]
